Cheryl and Bob Nettles have been serving as Sacristans for over 25 years, primarily at the 7am Mass, and are retiring from the ministry. Over their many years of volunteering, they have helped to train many other Sacristans.  Sacristans help to set up for our Masses and create a sacred space for all as we attend Mass or other Liturgical services. Thank you for your service and dedication to the Sacristan Ministry Cheryl and Bob!

We have many amazing parishioners serving in a variety of  liturgical ministries each weekend – Sacristans, Readers, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, AV Techs and Altar Servers.  If you have a desire to help in one of these areas, please contact Mary Ann Fox at mfox@annunciationorlando.org or 407-869-9472. Thank you!

Loving and Serving the Children https://annunciationorlando.org/loving-and-serving-the-children/ Mon, 07 Aug 2023 12:32:18 +0000 https://annunciationorlando.org/?p=339646

Lynda has been instrumental in establishing several charitable services in our community through our St. Vincent DePaul Society, such as the Tutoring Center in Altamonte Springs.  Hundreds of at-risk children have benefited from this after-school center for many years.  Run by volunteers, the center has been recognized by the teaching staff at Sabal Point Elementary as being instrumental in the educational progress of the children involved in the program. Lynda is active in this ministry daily, coordinating the educational needs and the lunch program.  Thank you to Lynda and the wonderful volunteers who love and serve these children throughout the school year.

The Power of a Seed https://annunciationorlando.org/the-power-of-a-seed/ Wed, 19 Jul 2023 13:49:43 +0000 https://annunciationorlando.org/?p=339600 Seventeen years ago, Transformation India Movement (TIM) inaugurated the first sewing center in one of the villages in Bihar. Herla, a parishioner at Annunciation, met the founder of TIM at a prayer group and they talked about the need in India. At the time, Herla struggled financially while operating a sewing business in Orlando. In prayer, Herla felt called to help with the ministry and  gave $1150, her entire savings, to establish the school (the first school was name “Kimarah” after Herla’s daughter).

With that seed money, TIM has since opened 93 Bridge of Hope sewing centers in Bihar, successfully trained over 2200 women from underprivileged backgrounds, and distributed over 700 sewing machines. Hundreds of women have become self-sufficient, providing financial support for their families and educating their children.

Thank you Herla for answering the call to be “Eucharist” in the lives of these women and their families. The seed that you helped sow continues to grow.

Annunciation Eucharistic Ministers Serving at a Senior Living Facility https://annunciationorlando.org/annunciation-eucharistic-ministers-serving-at-a-senior-living-facility/ Wed, 19 Jul 2023 13:47:20 +0000 https://annunciationorlando.org/?p=339598 Joe & Cherie Weber, residents at Cascade Heights in Longwood, reached out to our Parish to be able to offer Holy Communion, during a weekly viewing of our 10am Mass live-stream.

Joe and Cherie let us know each week how many will be attending and a Eucharistic Minister brings out Holy Communion to be distributed to the residents attending the live-stream Mass. It is a beautiful way to bring together our faith community when they are unable to come to a weekend Mass.

This is just one story of many, of the dedication of our Ministers to the Sick who love and serve others by bringing Love   – the Eucharist!

Habitat Volunteers Go the Extra Mile to Help Mothers in Need https://annunciationorlando.org/habitat-volunteers-go-the-extra-mile-to-help-mothers-in-need/ Wed, 19 Jul 2023 13:43:54 +0000 https://annunciationorlando.org/?p=339596 The call went out to our Annunciation Habitat for Humanity ministry for a project at Life Choices Medical Clinic in Maitland. The Habitat crew responds monthly to housing projects through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Seminole /Apopka and this call was in addition to those monthly commitments.

Life Choices Medical Clinic, which supports mothers in crisis pregnancies and their families, had part of a flooring project complete, but needed help to finish the work. The new flooring would help to create a clean, healthy environment for all of the families that they serve.

The crew arrived after clinic hours and did not stop until the job was complete. They were “Eucharist” to those families and lived our mission by loving and serving others. Thank you for your work at the clinic and for the work you do for families throughout the year.
